Sheffield Park has beautiful and informal landscaped gardens laid out in the 18th century by 'Capability' Brown and then further created in the early part of the 20th century by its owner, Arthur Soames.
Four lakes form the centrepiece and autumn brings stunning colours from a wonderful array of rare trees and shrubs. We will also explore South Park, 265 acres of historic parkland with the most stunning views to photograph.
Who is this workshop for? This workshop will suit all abilities and help you with whatever camera you own, from a simple compact or camera phone to an advanced level DSLR
There will be Group and One to One tuition... you will be shown how to get the very best from your camera
What will we be doing?
Photographing at this time of the year is one of the best times to be free with your camera, to come and join like-minded people; and discover all those techniques Simon talks about in his books and his lectures in real time... with hands on practice... time spent that will improve your skills immeasurably in all areas of your photography.
There's an almost limitless number of tones and shadows and colour to stimulate you here, to excite and immerse you creatively - to capture what you 'see' and how you want to record it.
This is a very emotional time of year that will make you think about what you are doing, at times we may find the day overcast, but suddenly the clouds part and our photography will take on the long shadows as they drape themselves across the rich colours.
We will capture the beautiful autumnal light, it's not just about the sweeping landscapes at Sheffield park, we will photograph the richness of the colours and wonderful tones of autumn.
We will look at getting the light perfectly right, how to balance light and get the best exposure, looking at the settings that will help you get the best shots with your camera, in camera, not by trying to manipulate your mistakes on your computer at home.
We will also look at composition in camera, proper metering in sometimes challenging light. We will explore creative use of shutter and aperture priorities to make your pictures come alive (if your camera has these settings)... lots of techniques in one place. And of course Simon will be on hand, to help and give you any advice you need.
(This workshop is suitable for the complete beginner and also those with very much more advanced knowledge)
